Hard Waste Collection

Hard waste is collected annually in April. Dates for collection are advertised in the 'Echo' newspaper, Rates Newsletter and on this website. The 2012 collection was held on Saturday 21 April.

The collection date for 2013 is yet to be determined.

Hard Waste is material not reasonably capable of being contained within a Mobile Bin, which does not exceed 32 kg in weight or 1.20 metres in length and 0.6 metres in width/depth.

Materials include:

  • Ovens, washing machines and dryers
  • Fridges (with door removed)
  • Hot water systems
  • Baths
  • Household furniture and china
  • Lawn mowers and other garden tools
  • Garden furniture
  • Timber no longer than 1.2 metres in length
  • Glass from mirrors and windows (must be securely wrapped in cardboard with the wording "Glass" clearly marked)
  • Scrap metal and small car parts

Materials excluded from Hard Waste collection are:

  • Televisions
  • Computer equipment/printers
  • E-waste (electrical appliances)
  • Kitchen appliances
  • Tree prunings or branches
  • Household garbage
  • Vehicle tyres
  • Mattresses and / or bases
  • Chemicals and paints
  • Industrial or liquid wastes
  • Automotive batteries
  • Waste oils (e.g. cooking and motor oils)
  • Asbestos
  • Waste from industrial or commercial premises
  • Building, renovation or demolition waste (including fences, bricks, concrete, rubble or excavation material)
  • Pharmaceutical, pathological or poisonous wastes
  • Chemical containers
  • LPG bottles
  • Car batteries
  • Green waste (e.g. tree prunings and weeds)
