E-waste collection

Electronic waste piled up

Council's E-waste Collection for 2025 will occur on Saturday 17 May at 9 am to 1 pm at the Ocean View carpark, Queenscliff. This e-waste collection day provides our residents with a convenient way to drop off their unwanted electronic items for recycling at no charge.

All items collected at our drop-off days are dismantled and the components reused in new products. Please remove any batteries from items prior to drop-off.

What is electronic waste or e-waste?
E-waste is any item with a plug, battery or power cord that is no longer working or wanted.

What happens to the items I drop off?
The e-waste from this event will be collected and recycled at Sircel based in Dandenong. All e-waste is safely dismantled into components including plastic, glass, metal wirings and circuit boards. These components are sent to recyclers and manufacturers to be made into new products, saving it from landfill.

What can I do with my electronic items that are in good working condition that I no longer need?
Consider donating and reusing electronic items in good condition by giving these items to a local charity, op shop, or to a friend.

Why does Council provide this service?
Electronic waste is one of the fastest growing waste streams in Victoria. When not properly disposed of or recycled, e-waste can emit pollutants and become a serious health and environmental problem. Since 2019 E-waste has been banned from landfill in Victoria. Currently residents in the Borough need to go to multiple locations to recycle items accepted at this event. This event offers a convenient way to drop off electronic waste to be safely disposed of and recycled.
