Volunteering in the Borough is popular, accessible and rewarding. You're bound to find an organisation or sporting club where you can impart your skills and knowledge to help give back to the community. There are also plenty of people willing to help you learn new things.
The Victorian Government's volunteer.vic website contains plenty of information about volunteering – from projects and events to publications and resources, and even awards.
A number of other local and state-based agencies are also listed, providing further guidance on where and how you can help your community.
National Volunteer Week (NVW) is Australia's largest annual celebration of volunteering.
The Borough holds a volunteer celebration event around this time each year, which is attended by the Mayor and CEO. The event recognises and celebrates the significant contributions of the many volunteers throughout Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale.
Council also presents Citizen of the Year and Community Group of the Year awards at these celebrations to those who have gone above and beyond in their volunteering duties. To read about this years Community Service Awards, click here.
