Cr Isabelle Tolhurst was elected unopposed as Mayor of the Borough of Queenscliffe at tonight’s Ordinary Meeting of Council, for a term of one year.
"I’m humbled to have the support of my fellow Councillors in electing me as Mayor of the Borough of Queenscliffe,” said Cr Tolhurst. “I’m looking forward to working with Councillors, and plan to bring a fresh perspective, energy and pace to the role”.
Cr Fleur Hewitt was also elected Deputy Mayor unopposed. The Councillor said she was looking forward to working with Cr Tolhurst over the coming year. This will be Cr Hewitt’s second term as the Borough's Deputy Mayor.
“I’m thrilled to continue in my role as Deputy Mayor of the Borough,” Cr Hewitt said. “I’m looking forward to supporting our new Mayor as we continue working for our community”.
Council also nominated Councillors to portfolios and committees during the meeting. Councillors were elected to portfolio responsibilities as follows:
